Research published today by the Living Wage shows the scale of low pay in the capital affecting workers.
Despite London’s reputation for high paid jobs, there remains a significant proportion of the London workforce earning less than what it costs to live and London is now lagging behind other cities in combating low pay. But worryingly older workers in London (those aged 60 and above), are the second most likely age group to be low paid , with almost a fifth (17.3 per cent) earning less than the Living Wage. With rising living costs It’s key that all workers receive a real Living Wage as well as good quality jobs.
