Wise Age has been fighting ageism in employment for over 8 years and our predecessor Wise Owls for over a decade beforehand. Ageism is still prevalent among many employers including wrongly and illegally getting rid of employees when they reach pension age. We have trained hundreds of employers in age equality legislation and promoted the benefits and legal requirement to keep people working if they wish after retirement. Many employers are both age friendly and legally compliant.
Unfortunately many are not and age is often the hidden equality group in employment and our wider economy and society, which is why we need to keep on supporting those who are victims of ageism.
